Report: ‘Traumatized’ Kamala Harris Staffers ‘Terrified’ She Will Become President
Former staffers of Kamala Harris are reportedly still “traumatized” by their time in the senator-turned-vice president’s California office and are “terrified” that she may be the next in line to become president, according to reports made by the Washington Free Beacon, citing revelations made in a Business Insider report.
“It’s a nightmare scenario for some former Harris staffers who watched nervously as their former boss ascended the national political stage,” Insider wrote, referencing interviews it did with a “dozen” of former staffers who worked under the now-vice president.

“Many of them remain loyal Democrats and fans of Biden, but they didn’t want to see a boss with whom they’d had a bad experience become the Democratic Party’s standard-bearer,” the report added, noting that “Biden, at 78, was already the oldest person to assume the US presidency.
“He’ll be a few weeks shy of his 82nd birthday on Election Day 2024, and there’s already speculation six months into his term over whether he’ll run for reelection,” it added.

In its report, the Washington Free Beacon noted that the staffers “spoke on condition of anonymity to protect professional relationships, adding that Harris’ job trajectory means it’s well within reason she could become the most powerful person on the planet.”
The former staffers reportedly did not want to be targeted should their identities be revealed in interviews.
Harris made workplace “toxic”
“The staffers do agree, however, that Harris made her former workplace ‘toxic’ with a ‘reactionary’ attitude that fomented ‘a sense of paranoia in that office that you never knew when she was going to snap at you,’” the Free Beacon said separately. One former staffer also reportedly told Business Insider that Democratic Vice President Harris sometimes made staffers “so stressed out that they were making themselves sick. Is that toxic? I don’t know.”
Another staffer was also said to have suffered ‘a sort of post-traumatic stress episode’ when Harris’ emergence onto the national stage and that “they sought therapy to ‘resolve trauma from the on-the-job abuse’ after Harris was selected as Biden’s running mate in 2020.”

The Daily Wire also reported in June citing Politico’s similar “expose” on VP Harris’ behavior, where the publication chronicled the Democratic vice president’s “management style,” which reportedly became “abusive.”
“People are thrown under the bus from the very top, there are short fuses and it’s an abusive environment,” said a person with direct knowledge of how Harris’ office is run. “It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported but a place where people feel treated like s***.”
Ex-staffers of @KamalaHarris were not surprised to see reports on the toxic culture inside the @VP office.
Some predicted it was a matter of time until stories of staff dysfunction started spilling out.

Insider interviewed 12 former Harris staffers across her career receiving varying responses about the workplace culture.

“In interviews, 22 current and former vice presidential aides, administration officials and associates of Harris and Biden described a tense and at times dour office atmosphere,” Politico said, adding that “aides and allies in an apparent effort to protect Harris, has instead created an insular environment where ideas are ignored or met with harsh dismissals and decisions are dragged out.”
“Often, they said, she refuses to take responsibility for delicate issues and blames staffers for the negative results that ensue,” the report added.
The former staffers of Harris reportedly told Business Insider that Politico’s report made them feel “vindicated” and “affirmed” their experiences working under the vice president.
When @politico published a story that detailed a VP's office "rife with dissent," news spread fast around the alumni network of Harris' ex-staffers in California and Washington.

The White House, however, earlier downplayed criticism of Harris in reference to the Politico report, and suggested that criticism of the vice president’s management style is “sexist.”
“White House senior adviser Anita Dunn, for example, told Politico the complaints about Harris’ office were ‘not anywhere near what you are describing’ but acknowledged there could be ‘people whose feelings were a little hurt on her staff,’ because many weren’t told about her last-minute trip to the southern border,” The Daily Wire said in its report.
