Reports Says Trump Called DeSantis’ Personality ‘Dull’ And Believes He Would Not Win Republican Presidential Nomination

In private, former President Donald Trump talks negatively of Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), according to a recent Axios report.

Axios’s Jonathan Swan said that sources told him that Trump has privately criticized DeSantis on a number of different occasions.

One anonymous source told Swan, “In the context of the 2024 election, he usually gives DeSantis a pop in the nose in the middle of that type of conversation. He says DeSantis has no personal charisma and has a dull personality.”

The source also told Axios that Trump goes out of his way during these meetings to stress that he isn’t bothered by the prospect of having to face DeSantis in a presidential run.

According to a second unnamed person who talked to Swan, Trump was unhappy with DeSantis since he has not openly ruled out running for president in 2024.

Allegedly, Trump says he does not understand the “big deal” surrounding DeSantis’ potential run. Trump allegedly exclaimed, “Why won’t he just say he’s not going to run against me?”

Another person told Swan that Trump was particularly irritated by DeSantis’s apparent lack of gratitude, telling individuals in private that “there’s no way” that DeSantis would have been elected governor without his endorsement.

Trump and DeSantis were in the news together last week when Trump called politicians that would not disclose their vaccination status “gutless”.

Trump said, “I’ve taken it, I’ve had the booster. Many politicians – I’ve watched a couple of politicians be interviewed and one of the questions was ‘did you get the booster?’. The answer is yes but they don’t want to say it, because they’re gutless. You gotta say it, whether you’ve had it or not, say it.”
