San Francisco Gun Control Advocate Mistakes Toy BB Gun Packaging For Actual Gun, Gets Mocked Online
‘The attempt at virtue signaling is just adorable’
California state representative, David Chiu of San Francisco posted a picture to twitter over the weekend, “discarded packaging of a semi-automatic” Glock handgun that turned out to be from a toy airsoft gun.
Chiu didn’t bother to read the package, which clearly stated that the toy was an airsoft gun, not a real handgun.
Many others took advantage of the chance to humiliate and insult the gun control advocate on social media.
I didn’t realize semi-automatic handguns were sold in the same kind of packaging as an HDMI cable @DavidChiu pic.twitter.com/bIWpGEQGmC

Chiu removed the tweet and tried to defend his original post in a second tweet.
“I deleted an earlier tweet that misidentified a Glock 19 air pistol. While not a semi-automatic, it’s still disturbing to see remnants of a weapon that can cause injury, especially in an area where young kids play and while we are dealing with a surge of gun violence in SF,” Chiu wrote to Twitter.

Other online criticized Chiu because there are people like him who want gun control but show how ignorant they are when it comes to guns.
The Latino Rifle Associate responded to Chiu, “Why did you delete this one @DavidChiu? It’s not like one of the most outspoken gun control activists in California’s legislature should know the difference between a toy gun and a real gun.”
“We should clarify that this is an airgun and thus NOT a toy, airguns can injure people. Still, Chiu introduces a lot of gun control bills and should absolutely know the difference,” the account also wrote.
“Finding the discarded packaging of a semi-automatic on a leisurely weekend walk was disturbing, particularly during this month’s surge of gun violence in San Francisco. #EndGunViolence #EnoughIsEnough,” Rep. Chiu wrote in his now deleted post about the toy gun.
Chiu supports micro-stamping on bullets to aid law enforcement in tracing a gun’s manufacture, model, and serial number when it is used in a crime.
Second Amendment supporters point to research that indicate the policy is ineffectual and infringes on the freedom to right to bear arms guaranteed by the Constitution.
