Beto O’Rourke told a crowd in Charleston, South Carolina that abortion one day before birth is a woman’s choice.  O’Rourke’s statement was met with loud cheers from the crowd.

Many Americans believe that O’rourke’s position on late-term abortion is too radical.  80% of Americans polled in February 2019 opposed day-before-birth abortion.

8 states allow for abortions to be performed during the third-trimester. Those states are Alaska, Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico New yYrk, Oregon, Vermont, as well as the nation’s capital, Washington D.C.

Many of the Democratic candidates for president, including Bernie Sanders, have voiced their support for late-term abortions just like O’rourke has.  However, when former President Barack Obama was campaigning for president in 2008, he voiced his support for banning late-term abortions with only one exception: the medical health of the mother.

Many prominent Democrats, such as former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, have voiced concerns that the far-left positions that many Democrat candidates are pushing on several social issues will hurt them in the general election.

The O’rourke campaign has failed to gain traction and sits around 3% in national polling.
