This 8-year-old YouTuber made $22 million in 2018 by playing with toys.
Ryan of “Ryan ToysReview” made the most money out of any YouTuber this year.
Ryan makes short, entertaining videos in which he unboxes and plays with toys. In Ryan’s most popular video, he opens up eggs to find toys from cars and paw patrol.
Ryan’s videos have amassed his channel a total of 17.3 million subscribers and 26 billion views.
Nearly all of his money, $21 million, comes from automated ads on his videos. The remaining $1 million comes from sponsored posts on his YouTube channel.
Because he is a minor, 15 percent of Ryan’s earnings are transferred to a Coogan account under California law. This money will be given to Ryan when he turns 18 and becomes a legal adult.
The success of Ryan’s YouTube channel is due to the bizarre growing trend among children today who would rather watch a video of someone playing with a toy or game than play with it themselves.
