This Is Why Trump Calls Them “Fake News”: CBS Caught Using Footage From Italian Hospital In Segment On New York

A scene on CBS News showed health professionals and a large number of sick patients with COVID-19 crammed into a hospital room.  CBS said the footage was from a busy hospital in New York City that was treating coronavirus patients.

However, in the latest case of mainstream media fake news, it was determined that the footage was reused from a broadcast about a hospital in Italy, and had nothing to do with the outbreak in New York.

Many news sites and
social media posts on the internet have now shown side by side comparison
images that reveal CBS’s dishonest fake news reporting, which further erodes
the nation’s already low level of trust in the media.

On March 22nd, Sky News initially used the footage to report on conditions at the epicenter of the Italian outbreak in the northern part of the country. On March 25th, CBS News reused the same footage and deceptively claimed that it represented the “America’s epicenter” in New York City.

Here is the footage used by Sky News:

And here is the identical footage used by CBS News:

CBS paid the images of the Italian hospital room along with panicked pleas from New York Governor Cuomo to try and convince its audience that an apocalyptic coronavirus scenario was well underway in The Big Apple.

CBS has since admitted it
made a “mistake” by using the footage.

A recent Gallup poll showed that an overwhelming majority of Americans disapprove of the way the media has handled the outbreak, whereas the President and other politicians have generally been given more favorable reviews regarding their actions.

As the American public
grows more anxious and frustrated over the rapid spread over the Chinese coronavirus, there is a strong need for
truthful and potentially life-saving information from the news media.  However, many Americans are growing
increasingly angry at the fact that the news media seems to be more concerned
with spreading fear and panic by focusing on possible worst-case scenarios than
on providing valuable information.

This apocalyptic fearmongering has led to the accusation by some conspiracy theorists that the coronavirus may be a hoax or fake news.  The media also has not reported on any standards regarding how deaths are reported, the recovery rate from the virus, or other pieces of vital information that would give a more balanced approach.

There are also concerns
that certain politicians and the media are attempting to politicize and
exaggerate this crisis as a way of hurting President Trump’s chances of reelection
in 2020.

For example, Governor
Cuomo slammed President Trump’s coronavirus response and accused the president
of not sending New York enough ventilators.
However, it was discovered shortly after that New York had thousands of
extra ventilators that remained unused in storage units.

The President also expressed concern during Sunday’s coronavirus briefing that some hospitals had been requesting absurd numbers of protective masks, in the hundreds of thousands, and that there may be some kind of theft or hoarding taking place.
