Tiger Woods “Awake, Responsive, Recovering” After LA Vehicle Crash — Donald Trump Says ‘He’s Going to Be Back’
Golf legend Tiger Woods is “awake, responsive and recovering” in a Los Angeles hospital following a near-fatal single-vehicle rollover crash on Tuesday morning, according to a statement released through his official Twitter account.
The update also quoted Dr. Anish Mahajan, chief medical officer and interim CEO of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, saying that the professional golfer is recovering from a “long surgical procedure to repair significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity.”

“Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia,” Mahajan said, adding that there were “additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins.”
The physician added that there was also “trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling.”
It went on to express appreciation to the medical staff at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department and the Fire Department.
“There are no further updates at this time and we continue to thank you for your well-wishes and privacy for him and his family,” it added.
Reports quoted Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva saying the golf legend was driving at a “relatively greater speed than normal” when he crashed. He said the front end of the 2021 Hyundai Genesis SUV that Woods was driving was “totally destroyed” but the interior was “more or less intact” although he assured that “there was no evidence of impairment.”
“[The vehicle] crossed the center divider, to the point that it rested several hundred feet away so obviously that indicates they were going at a relatively a greater speed than normal. However, because it is downhill, it slopes and it also curves,” Villanueva said.
“That area has a high frequency of accidents. It’s not uncommon,” he added.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Tuesday that there was no evidence PGA golfer Tiger Woods was impaired at the time of a crash that left him badly injured, but said it appears he was speeding when the rollover occurred.

Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, who was among the first responders to the crash site said Woods was “calm and lucid” and “knew where he was and what time of day it was.”
Fox News reported that Woods is supposedly driving to work with Discovery Networks to do behind the scenes “teaching lessons with several stars.”
Trump wishes Woods speedy recovery
Following reports of Woods’ crash, former President Donald Trump — who conferred the golfer with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019 — wished him a speedy recovery as he predicted that he would “be back.”
“He’ll recover from this … it’s — it’s pretty bad on the legs, I understand. And, you know, he’ll figure a way,” Trump said in a lengthy message to FNC’s “Fox News Primetime” to discuss Wood’s crash incident in California.
“He’s going to be — I think he’s going to be fine. He’s going to make sure that he’s fine … well, all I say to him is get better and get out there, because we all miss him. We — we need Tiger,” he added.
Separately, Trump’s former senior adviser, Jason Miller, also wrote on Twitter the former president’s well-wishes for the golf superstar.
