Trump Warns Border Crisis Will Get ‘Much Worse’ — Says Biden Admin ‘Destroying Our Country’
Former President Donald Trump blasted the border policies of President Joe Biden which he said has caused the escalating crisis at the southern border as he slammed the Democratic chief executive for “destroying our country” and predicted the situation is going to worsen.
During an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, the former Republican president noted how the US built a “great relationship” with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador — in trying to control the tide of illegal immigration and Biden put the progress in jeopardy by overturning his border policies and stopping the construction of the border wall.
“[Lopez Obrador] is a great gentleman. We had a very good relationship. They had 28,000 soldiers on our border while we were building the wall … and they were also stopping them at their northern border by Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala,” Trump told Bartiromo on Tuesday.
“Today, they are coming in. You take a look. They are coming in from foreign countries. I see they are coming in from Yemen. They are coming in from the Middle East. They are coming in from everywhere,” the former president said, noting that “they are pouring into our country.”
“They are going to destroy our country if we don’t do something about it,” Trump warned.

The former GOP president — who earlier stopped similar migrant caravans in early 2019 — also called out Biden for “eroding” the progress of his administration in terms of vetting asylum seekers and balancing it with national security and prioritizing Americans first.
“Frankly, our country can’t handle [the increase in migrants]. It is a crisis like we have rarely had and certainly we have never had on the border. But it is going to get much worse,” he added.
Trump: Biden’s border policies ‘destroying our country’
Bartiromo cited how Biden’s first act as president involved reversing Trump’s border policies and stopping the border wall construction — which she said had led to “an onslaught of illegal immigration.”
“Do you believe this would not have happened had he not overturned your policies?” she asked Trump.
“My policies were working better than they’ve ever seen on the southern border,” the former president responded. “The wall was almost complete. We just had to fix little sections, complete little sections that had to be together.”
“But they’re destroying our country,” Trump fired at Biden’s border policies. “People are coming by the hundreds of thousands. Young children are coming in and they leave their homes and they come up because they think it’s going to be so wonderful, and frankly, our country can’t handle it.”
He went on to warn that the border situation “is going to get much worse.”
“I mean, what you’re seeing now is very bad, record numbers, but it’s going to get much, much worse. With a little bit of time, you’ll see those numbers expand at a level like you’ve never seen before,” Trump told Bartiromo.
Trump says border situation “out of control”
Prior to his interview with Bartiromo, Trump already earlier spoke against the worsening crisis at the US-Mexico border, where an unprecedented influx of illegal immigrants have overwhelmed federal authorities, as a result of Biden reversing Trump’s border policies.
“Our border is now totally out of control thanks to the disastrous leadership of Joe Biden. Our great Border Patrol and ICE agents have been disrespected, demeaned, and mocked by the Biden Administration,” the former president said earlier this month.
“A mass incursion into the country by people who should not be here is happening on an hourly basis, getting worse by the minute. Many have criminal records, and many others have and are spreading covid. Interior enforcement has been shut down — criminals that were once promptly removed by our Administration are now being released back onto the street to commit heinous and violent crimes,” he added.
He also earlier called out Biden for causing a “spiraling tsunami” of illegal immigrants at the border — that remain untested for COVID-19 in irony to the strict federal restrictions on Americans engaging in travel and business.
“The Biden Administration must act immediately to end the border nightmare that they have unleashed onto our nation. Keep illegal immigration, crime, and the China Virus out of our country!” Trump said on March 5.
As part of former president Trump’s tighter immigration policies, he has pressured Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico to police their own borders before thousands of immigrants could make way to the US.
Critics earlier said that with tighter laws on immigration and more stringent enforcement, “Mexico has become Trump’s wall.
Trump encourage vaccination
Meanwhile, as part of his wide-ranging exclusive interview with Fox News’ Bartiromo, the former president also said he would recommend getting the coronavirus vaccine — which was developed under his ‘Operation Warp Speed.’
“I would recommend it and I would recommend it to a lot of people that don’t want to get it and a lot of those people voted for me, frankly,” Trump said of the COVID-19 shots.
“But again, we have our freedoms and we have to live by them and I agree with that also. But it is a great vaccine. It is a safe vaccine and it is something that works.”

The former president also slammed Biden and the Democrats over the near-$1 or more hike in gas prices — which came after the Democratic president’s orders curtailing American energy production.
“When I look at what is happening, we were energy independent. Gas prices are going up at a far more rapid rate than anyone has seen in a long time. We had gas prices very low and yet we had more energy jobs than we have ever had,” Trump said, as he warned massive tax hikes could be forthcoming — the “highest number that we have ever seen” which he said, will be “devastating: to the country’s economy.
