(WATCH) Canadian MP Suggests Freedom Protestors Are Nazis, Says ‘Honk Honk’ Means ‘Heil Hitler’ (VIDEO)

The phrase “honk honk” is a secret communication signifying “hail Hitler,” according to Canadian Liberal MP Ya’ara Saks.

On Monday, Saks testified in front of Parliament, expressing her dissatisfaction with the government’s response to the truckers.

“How many guns need to be seized?” Saks asked dramatically from her platform. “How much vitriol do we have to see of ‘Honk Honk’ – which is an acronym for ‘heil Hitler’ – do we need to see on social media?”

“Honk honk” has been the Freedom Convoy’s unofficial motto, referring to protestors’ use of horns to annoy and disturb citizens and government officials until pandemic mandates are ended.

Saks claimed the onomatopoeia was an “acronym” for “heil Hitler,” a term used by neo-Nazis to declare support for White supremacy in the past. Saks most likely misspoke; acronyms are abbreviations of a phrase based on the initial letter of each word.

Saks doubled down on her claim on social media the same day.

“For those who think that ‘Honk Honk’ is some innocuous joke. I’ll just leave this here,” Saks wrote Monday.

Saks cited posts by Gwen Snyder, a self-proclaimed “antifascist.”

Snyder had previously alleged that the word “honk honk” was used to disguise the phrase “hail Hitler,” which is commonly shortened to “HH.”

Snyder argued that the term was deliberately chosen as a symbol of White supremacy. She provided evidence in the form of a screenshot of a 4chan post with no context referenced.

“‘Honk honk’ is associated with the honker,” Synder said, referring to the internet meme which shows a Pepe the Frog character in a rainbow wig.
