WATCH: Democrats At The DNC Omit “Under God” From The Pledge Of Allegiance (VIDEO)
On the third night of the DNC, at least two caucuses omitted the line ‘under God’ from the Pledge of Allegiance.
The first person said, “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, [redacted], indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all.”
The second person stated, “Hello, everybody. If you don’t have a flag, I have a flags here right in front of me. Please place your hand over your heart. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, [dramatized redaction], indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you.”
Former President Barack Obama spoke at the Democratic National Convention on the importance of the constitution and how he believes President Trump has not taken the office ‘seriously’.
Obama stated, “For close to four years now, [Trump] has shown no interest in putting in the work. No interest in finding common ground. No interest in using the awesome power of his office to help anyone but himself and his friends. No interest in treating the presidency as anything but one more reality show that he can use to get the attention he craves. Donald Trump hasn’t grown into the job because he can’t. And the consequences of that failure are severe.”
Obama accused President Trump’s administration of relying on cynicism to win another four-year term.
Former President Obama stated, “Well, here’s the point. This president and those in power, those who benefit from keeping things the way they are, they are counting on your cynicism. They know they can’t win you over with their policies. So they’re hoping to make it as hard as possible for you to vote and to convince you that your vote does not matter. That is how they win. That is how they get to keep making decisions that affect your life.”
MSNBC reporter Rachel Maddow reacted to Obama’s speech and said how we are potentially ‘at the end of American Democracy’.
Maddow stated, “President Obama’s speech tonight slayed me. Um, I’m sure people have different opinions about it because it’s a different kind of thing from him. But his warnings that we could potentially be at the end of American democracy, um, scared me and I found upsetting and hard to watch, but just powerful. Powerful stuff.”
