(WATCH) Jill Biden Accidentally Introduces Kamala Harris As ‘The President Of The United States’ (VIDEO)
During a Black History Month ceremony at the White House on Monday, First Lady Jill Biden accidentally presented Vice President Kamala Harris as the president of the United States, then claimed she was joking after she corrected herself.
“As many of you know, our vice president’s historic path to the White House began before she could even walk, marching with her parents in the Civil Rights movement, or at least being pushed in a stroller,” Biden said during her opening comments.
Jill Biden added, “Since then, she has dedicated her life to pursuing justice and opportunity for all. She is a partner to Joe, especially on issues like voting rights, and is proud to be the first, but not the last.”
Jill Biden then started to introduce Harris as the president of the United States, but she was interrupted by crowd laughter and received a shrug from President Biden.
The first lady then made a joke out of her apparent error, telling the audience, “I just said that to make you laugh.”

Speaking at a commencement address at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina in December, President Biden praised prominent Black colleges, saying, “Of course, President Harris is a proud Howard [University] alum.”
Also, in March 2021, Biden referred to Harris as President Harris, and in December 2020, he referred to her as “President-elect Harris” before he took office.
