(WATCH) Jim Jordan Rips Apart Democrat Chair Nadler Over Garland School Board Memo (VIDEO)

During a Wednesday hearing, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) slammed Democrat House Judiciary Chair Jerry Nadler and his colleagues over Attorney General Merrick Garland’s controversial school board memo.

Garland’s memo was released in October, a week after the National School Board Association (NSBA) requested help from the Biden administration to put a stop to parents voicing their concerns to local school boards about critical race theory and LGBT propaganda present in our school systems.

The memorandum was issued to the FBI, ordering them to convene meetings with “federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial leaders” within 30 days. “These meetings will facilitate the discussion of strategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff.”

Garland’s memorandum cites a “disturbing spike in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff”.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) reminded the room that the NSBA “has since apologized for [the letter]. In fact, I got that letter here somewhere that they sent to us where they say we regret and apologize for the letter.”

Jordan explained that multiple states left the NSBA after their dangerous letter was released in October: “They’ve had all kinds of states leave their association. So that letter that they apologize for regret they ever sent had states leave their association because of was the basis for the attorney general, according to his testimony in front of the Judiciary Committee.”

The Congressman furiously defended parents who press back on the school boards, adding that federal funding should not be used to suppress their free speech: “Don’t use federal funds for that threat tag. if moms and dads are showing up at school board meetings and voicing their concern about the upbringing and education of their kids. I wouldn’t know why we all wouldn’t be… this should be unanimous by voice vote. So our concern is why the Democrats are opposed to this. This seems so straightforward.”

He then asked Democrat Chair Nadler why he insisted the memo had no problem if the NSBA ended up apologizing. Jordan said, “If there’s not a problem, why’d they apologize? Normally you apologize if you had done something wrong. I don’t know. I don’t know too many people just walk up out of the blue.”
