WATCH: Kamala Harris Gives Ridiculous Answer When Asked Point Blank About Tim Walz “Stolen Valor” Scandal

Kamala Harris, after days of dodging the tough questions, finally stepped into the spotlight to address the scandal swirling around her running mate, Tim Walz. Accusations have surfaced that Walz, in an effort to bolster his political career, grossly exaggerated his military service—a move that many Americans find not only dishonest but disrespectful to the uniform.

Harris, who has been unusually quiet since becoming the Democratic nominee, faced the media on Thursday. When pressed on the allegations that Walz misrepresented his rank upon retiring from the National Guard and falsely claimed he “went to war,” her response was nothing short of evasive. “Listen, I praise anyone who has presented themselves to serve our country. And I think that we all should,” Harris said, offering nothing but vague platitudes while sidestepping the real issue.

Walz, who served for 24 years in the National Guard before retiring in 2005 to pursue a career in Congress, now finds himself embroiled in controversy. Although he reached the rank of command sergeant major, he was later demoted to master sergeant after failing to complete the necessary coursework for the higher rank—a detail his campaign was forced to scrub from his biography this week in a humiliating backtrack.

As if that weren’t enough, Walz raised eyebrows with his comments on gun control during his introductory speech on Monday. He argued against the public’s access to weapons he claimed to have “carried in war”—a statement that quickly unraveled as critics pointed out that Walz never actually saw combat. While he did train with heavy artillery and was deployed to Italy in 2003 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the reality is that he never set foot in a warzone, despite what his rhetoric might suggest.

This isn’t the first time Walz has faced scrutiny over his military claims. His previous insinuations that he served overseas in direct combat operations, leaving many to believe he had been in Afghanistan, are now being seen for what they are: misleading at best, deceptive at worst.

When Harris finally emerged to take questions from the press, the so-called grilling she received was anything but. Conservatives across the country were left shaking their heads at the softball questions lobbed her way. In what should have been a moment of accountability, Harris was instead asked about the timing of debates with Trump—a distraction that only served to highlight her campaign’s unwillingness to engage on the real issues.

Responding to the news that Trump agreed to a debate in early September, Harris tried to save face: “Well, I’m glad that he’s finally agreed to a debate on September 10,” she said. “I am happy to have that conversation about an additional debate, or after September 10, for sure.” Meanwhile, Harris hinted at a prime-time interview sometime “before the end of the month,” as if that would suffice for her weeks of ducking the tough questions.

The media’s handling of Harris was met with immediate criticism. Bloomberg’s Matthew Yglesias noted on X (formerly Twitter) the absurdity of the situation: “Peak journalism is that when you finally get a chance to ask the candidate a question you ask about when they will take more questions.” Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro didn’t hold back either, mocking the media’s approach as nothing more than “a gentle hot stone massage.”

As Harris and her team continue to deflect and dodge, one thing is becoming clear: the American people are not buying it. The truth will always find a way to come out, and when it does, no amount of media shielding will protect them from the consequences.
