WATCH: Officers Force Man To Leave Meeting For Not Wearing A Mask (VIDEO)
A man was arrested at a South Dakota school board meeting for not wearing a mask and other participants spoke out in favor of him afterwards.
As the officers walked into the board meeting room, a woman stated, “Come on. Are you serious? you’re seriously gonna do that? This is embarrassing.”
The officers approached the man stating, “Sir, you’re gonna have to come with us, alright? The rules are that you have to have a mask. It’s a part of their policy.”
The mask-less man nods no and the officer explained, “As of right now, they want you out.”
“You’ll have to drag me out guys”, the man stated back.
The officer said, “Sir, I really don’t want to.”
“I know you don’t want to do it. I know you do not want to do it”, the maskless man says while pointing to the other officer, “Yes, I know this guy doesn’t want to do it. But, unfortunately you have to follow these fools’ rules. Right?”
The officer responded, “If it’s part of their policy that you have to wear a mask.”
The man stated, “Yeah. So you forced me out.”
“You’re going to make-“, the officer is cut off from asking about making him drag the maskless man out.
The man responds, “Yes you’re going to have to drag me out. This is what you are doing.” pointing to the school board members.
He then speaks to the board members, “You’re so in discord within our communities at every level. It’s disgusting. Do you harass your clients when they’re at your restaurant to put on masks? Do you go harass them? Do you?”
The officer interrupts him, “At this point. At this point, you could be facing additional charges that you don’t want.”
The man responds, “Of what? I get it. I get it.”
A lady stated back saying, “This is absurd. Completely absurd.
Someone else responds, “You got that right.”
Officers then grab the man from his chair and a woman stated the situation being an embarrassment to the school.
Another man notices the maskless man resisting stating, “It ain’t worth all of that, brother.”
Others are telling him to breathe and to not resist while the officers are escorting the maskless man out.
The maskless man questions, “You have to tase me in front of all these people?”
The officer states, “I really don’t want to tase you.”
The woman nearby says, “Don’t tase him. Please don’t.”
“I want these people to video it while they’re cops of minority descent have to do this to everybody. Constantly putting you people in these positions”, the maskless man stated.
The woman states, “He just wants to have a say in what is going on here. We pay! We pay school taxes. Please just don’t resist.”
Another woman as the man is escorted out states, “Don’t resist, okay?’
As the men is taken out, the woman stated, “We all believe in what you do. This is an embarrassment and you all should be embarrassed.”
Other joined in, “This is a joke!”
A man in the back recalled, “Sitting at the front, sitting away, furthest away from anybody else in here.”
The woman who first defended the man states, “Let’s all get in a huddle. Like we did on Friday night like the football game. How many people are on the football team? We put them on a pedestal and we let them get into a group and huddle and chant and we don’t say a damn word because sports is on a pedestal. And I get sports are important, but how is that more important than every other student? In Chorus and all the other activities that go on? No powerpuff?”
The woman is then cut off by the board member, “Ma’am, there’s public commentary time-”
“But you don’t let people speak. You forced him out”, the woman responds back.
The school board member responds “There is a public commentary period. Thank you.”
