WATCH: Parents Of Imprisoned Lt. Col Scheller: ‘His Crime Was Speaking Truth To Power, And Power Couldn’t Handle It’ (VIDEO)
The parents of Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller, who was thrown in the brig for criticizing the US military over President Joe Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, is speaking against the decision of the military to punish their son for speaking up against the leadership.
Stu Scheller Sr. and Cathy Scheller told Fox News host Tucker Carlson in an interview that they were unsure what the supposed charges are against their son, although the father noted that it could be something related to their son breaking a gag order that he was placed under.
“Probably a week or two ago, or maybe it was a week ago, they put him under a gag order. They took away his right to post, to talk on social media, to email, to text,” Stu Scheller Sr. said.
“He shared it with America. And he knew this weekend, when he posted again and he broke his silence, that they were probably going to arrest him on Monday,” the father added. “So, he is a very intelligent man. He understands what’s going to happen to him.”
Stuart Scheller, a Marine who went viral last month for criticizing senior military leaders for the bungled Afghanistan pullout, said he may face a court martial and prison time.
On Sept. 11, Scheller wrote a letter to his Facebook page stating that he is quitting his military service. Scheller’s letter noted “loss of trust and confidence,” which matched the military’s explanation.
Crime of speaking truth to power
Stu Scheller Sr. noted that his son’s only crime is speaking the truth — which in this case means having to defy the military leadership.
“I said last night on a program, Tucker, his crime was speaking truth to power, and power couldn’t handle it,” Stu Scheller Sr. said.
“I also said that while he broke the chain of command, Austin, Milley, McKenzie, they broke the chain of trust and confidence in the American people. We’re mad, we’re mad as hell,” he added.
“And I’m asking the American people to find your voice. Stand up, demand accountability of your Congresspeople. Ask for Lieutenant Scheller to be freed. In my opinion, of course, I’m dad, so it’s probably not fair, but I think he should receive his pension after 17 years of fighting for this country. I think he and his family should have their health benefits and VA benefits for the rest of their lives for the sacrifices he’s made,” Stu Scheller Sr. continued.

In late August, Scheller, who called for accountability over the debacle in Afghanistan — has been relieved from his post following his viral video where he demanded that senior American leaders take responsibility for the actions related to the US military withdrawal in the country which led to the death of at least 13 US servicemen.#
