Wyoming GOP Unanimously Censures Rep. Cheney For Voting To Impeach Trump — Says Her Disgusting Selfish Actions Drove GOP Members Out Of The Party
Republicans in Wyoming voted to censure Rep. Liz Cheney over her decision last week to back the Democrat-led impeachment against President Donald Trump.
GOP members in Carbon County voted unanimously against Cheney saying her support for the latest impeachment push of Democrats over claims of “incitement of an insurrection” is going against the will of her Republican constituents.
“The Carbon County Republican Party has unanimously voted to formally censure U.S. Representative Liz Cheney,” party chairman Joey Correnti IV said in a statement.
“Members of the US House of Representatives are elected to represent the will, the values, and the state’s preferences of the people in their congressional district and … an overwhelming majority of the electorate in the state of Wyoming voted to retain President Donald J. Trump as the President of the United States,” it added.
Cheney “violated trust” of GOP voters
The Republicans in the county argued that articles of impeachment against the President were “filed and voted on” with “no formal hearings held, no quantifiable evidence presented.” No witnesses were also sworn to testify and accusers were never questioned, the statement explained.
“Representative Cheney has violated the trust of her voters, failed to faithfully represent a very large majority of motivated Wyoming voters, and neglected her duty to represent the party and the will of the people who elected her to represent them,” the resolution read.
It also noted the dire consequences of the impeachment vote for Republicans in Wyoming.
“The consequence of Rep. Cheney’s actions has resulted in numerous Republicans in Carbon County and across Wyoming, indicating that they will either no longer participate in the Republican Party, are stepping down from Precinct Representative positions within the party, or have already changed their voter registration and left the party entirely, (because of, or) as long as Rep. Cheney holds office,” the statement read.
The censure resolution has been forwarded to the Wyoming Republican Party’s State Central Committee for consideration. A censure is an expression of disapproval although it has no binding effect on the matter.
Wyoming GOP slammed House Democrats
Meanwhile, Republicans in Carbon County slammed House Democrats and called out the party’s hypocrisy for pushing a second impeachment against President Trump for allegedly “inciting violence” while also being caught on record for the past four years — doing exactly the same.
“No evidence exists that President Trump has ever called for a violent response to political opposition. Where in comparison, Rep. Cheney’s new political allies on the left have continually called for violent uprisings and destruction of both personal and public property, to include raising bail money for the insurrectionists,” the statement said.
“Ample video evidence suggests the riot at the Capitol was instigated by Antifa and BLM radicals, and FBI sources have revealed they have, and have had, evidence the incursion was planned weeks in advance of the January 6th rally and the President’s speech,” it added.
The resolution insisted that Rep. Cheney “cast her vote without any quantifiable evidence of High Crimes or Misdemeanors.”
The Wyoming Republican Party has already condemned Rep. Cheney for her impeachment vote and demanded she “explain” her vote.
“By announcing her decision to vote for impeachment, Rep. Cheney denied President Trump due process; she judged the ‘evidence’ before it was presented and refused to listen to the arguments made,” the Wyoming Republican Party earlier said, noting that the state voted for the re-election of President Trump by a margin of “70% to 30%.”
“Representative Cheney is in Washington, DC to represent Wyoming’s interest, not the interest of the beltway elites. President Trump did not incite anyone to riot. Read the transcript of what he said and watch the video,” it added.
Cheney “helping” Democrats smear GOP
The Wyoming GOP went on to say that Rep. Cheney is “helping” Democrats in their effort to “smear the entire conservative movement and all Republicans.”
“Representative Cheney has aligned herself with leftists who are screaming that what happened last Wednesday is the ‘worst thing ever in our history’ (or similar such claims). That is absurd and shows their lack of knowledge of history as well as their willingness to skew the facts to further their corrupt agenda,” the Wyoming Republican Party wrote.
“We have watched the leftists and progressives in this country riot, burn, kill, maim, loot and destroy cities and communities for 7 months, often with Democrat leaders egging them on, bailing them out and refusing to condemn their actions,” it added.
The Wyoming Gun Owners Association also earlier blasted Rep. Cheney for her vote, along with Senator John Barrasso for their criticism of President Trump.
Aside from Rep. Cheney, the 9 other Republicans who voted to impeach the Republican president are Rep. Tom Rice (South Carolina), Rep. Dan Newhouse (Washington), Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Illinois), Rep. Anthony Gonzalez (Ohio), Rep. Fred Upton (Michigan), Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (Washington), Rep. Peter Meijer (Michigan), Rep. John Katko (New York) and Rep. David Valadao (California).
