2018 Sen. Harris Criticized “Zero-Tolerance Policy”, Now VP Harris Shifts Her Position Due To The Border Crisis

In 2018, Kamala Harris was a senator who made a trip to the southern border in attempts to criticized the Trump administration for its “zero-tolerance policy” with immigration.

Recently VP Harris decided to take a stand and tell Guatemalans: “Do not come. Do not come. The United States will continue to enforce our laws and secure our border.”

“The reality is that this administration brought it upon itself to create a zero tolerance policy [boos] while vilifying a group of people who have traveled through countries seeking asylum, fleeing murder, capital of the world. And what do we do? Look at this place behind me. We imprison them. We put them behind barbed wires, I’ve walked through that. I am a career prosecutor, I have visited many prisons and jails. That is a prison!” Harris said in 2018.

Change in tune from VP Harris

“I want to be clear to folks in this region who are thinking about making that dangerous trek to the United States-Mexico border. Do not come. Do not come. The United States will continue to enforce our laws and secure our border. There are legal methods by which migration can and should occur. But we, as one of our priorities, will discourage illegal migration,” VP Harris stated during her visit.

“I believe if you come to our border, you will be turned back. So let’s discourage our friends, our neighbors, our family members from embarking on what is otherwise an extremely dangerous journey wherein large part, the only people who benefit are coyotes. And let us do our work together, Mr. President, again, with our mutual commitment of knowing that hope is on the way and I believe the actions we take together will improve the lives of Guatemalans. And as I meet with Guatemalan community members and leaders throughout this day, I will speak with them on what more can be done,” VP Harris continued.

Townhall.com shared a clip to Twitter showing Lester Holt in an NBC News Exclusive pressing Harris about her avoiding the border.

“VP Harris: “We’ve been to the border.” Holt: “YOU haven’t been to the border.” VP Harris: “And I haven’t been to Europe.”

The Guatemalan President blasted the Biden administration border policies saying they’re responsible for the border crisis.

“The message changed to ‘we’re going to reunite families and we’re going to reunite children. The very next day the coyotes were here organizing groups of children to take them to the United States,” Giammattei said during an interview with CBS News,” Townhall reported.

Harris was greeted by protestors who were blasting the Biden administration for allowing criminals to ‘thrive and bolstering corruption with mismanaged foreign aid.’ the outlet wrote.
