LA resident Tish Hyman confronted a man, Alexis Black (formerly Grant Freeman), inside the women’s locker room at EoS Fitness (formerly Gold’s Gym) in Beverly Hills after she says Black exposed himself and taunted other women. Video of the November 4 confrontation has gone viral and Hyman says her membership was revoked after the gym and police intervened. “Stay out of the women’s locker room, we don’t want it!” Hyman is heard shouting in the footage.
Police were called to the scene and escorted both Hyman and Black out of the facility; no criminal charges have been confirmed as filed at this time. But the fallout has been immediate: Hyman says the confrontation — and the gym’s response — has sparked national attention and a chorus of complaints from members and conservative voices.
According to Hyman’s account and video reports, Black allegedly taunted her during the exchange, saying, “Straight women like to see D (genitals) so if anything, they’re looking at me more than you.” Black disputes Hyman’s version of events, telling media he was covered by a towel and denying full exposure; he told TMZ Live that he is transitioning and taking hormones but still has male genitalia and argued that using a male-only changing room would be “victimising.”
It gets worse: court documents reported by outlets show Alexis Black, who previously went by Kyle Grant Freeman, pleaded guilty in 2022 to assaulting his then-wife and causing serious injury. Other reports cite additional prior convictions listed in court records, including drug-related charges and resisting arrest.
Hyman says the episode capped months of complaints she had filed about men in the women’s locker room. “Gold’s Gym terminated my membership after the man was escorted out by police. [They] then had me escorted out by officers afterwards. It was embarrassing. I left but not before making sure everyone knew that they were allowing men in the locker room,” she told reporters.
Hyman says gym staff told her their hands were tied by California law, which allows people to enter facilities based on self-identified gender rather than biological sex.
Conservative lawmakers and parents have seized on the incident, renewing calls for tighter restrictions on transgender access to female-only spaces and demanding policy reviews from gyms and local officials.
Key questions remain: what the gym’s internal investigation will reveal, what the police report shows, and whether any criminal charges will be pursued. With court records and viral footage now central to the debate, conservatives say this episode underscores privacy and safety concerns they’ve repeatedly raised — and they’re promising action in the coming days.
