American Airlines Not Denying Possible UFO Sighting, Says: ‘Talk To The FBI’
An American Airlines commercial flight from Cincinnati to Phoenix appeared to have an encounter with a UFO which the pilot described as something that “looked like a cruise missile type of thing” when they were flying over the northeastern part of New Mexico.
The pilot of the American Airline flight 2292 reportedly radioed Sunday afternoon about the unidentified flying object “right on top of them” according to a transmission cited by the media — posted at the Deep Black Horizon blog.

“On Sunday, Feb 21, just after 1:00 PM CST the author of this blog recorded off a radio scanner an American Airlines passenger jet reporting an unidentified object that flew close and just over the aircraft,” Steve Douglass wrote.
“At approximately 1:19 CST on the Albuquerque Center frequency of 127.850 MHz or 134.750 MHz (recording wasn’t frequency stamped) the pilot reported: ‘Do you have any targets up here? We just had something go right over the top of us.’”
“I hate to say this but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile type of thing — moving really fast right over the top of us,” the pilot added.
American Airlines redirects UFO questions to FBI
Fox News later on reported that the transmission was confirmed by American Airlines as “authentic” and verified that it did come from their flight 2292, although “it did not give any further comment on the possible alien encounter,” it wrote.
“Following a debrief with our Flight Crew and additional information received, we can confirm this radio transmission was from American Airlines Flight 2292 on Feb. 21,” an American Airlines spokesperson told Fox News.
“For any additional questions on this, we encourage you to reach out to the FBI,” it added.
The flight was said to be over the northeastern part of New Mexico west of Clayton, New Mexico when the encounter happened.
The plane was flying around 37,000 feet at the time of the sighting, and Douglass wrote that the Albuquerque Center did not respond to the radio transmission because “air traffic walked on top of it.”
AAL flight 2292 went on to land in Phoenix, Arizona.
White Sands Missile Range, the Department of Defense’s “largest, fully-instrumented, open air range” is located in the southern part of New Mexico but reports said at the time of the UFO sighting “no significant military aircraft presence was noted.”
Previous “UFO sightings” in Arizona
This is not the first time that pilots have reported “encounters” with unidentified flying objects while on flight. On February 24, 2018, pilots over southern Arizona reported seeing something odd — which they described as an “object beaming light” according to the Arizona Republic.
“Was anybody, uh, above us, who passed above us 30 seconds ago?” a pilot asks air traffic control that time, to which the air traffic controller responds: “Negative.”
“Well, something did,” the pilot replied. Another pilot chimes in and said “it was a UFO.”
The plane was also flying at 37,000 feet at that time and estimated the object was at “about 50,000 feet.”
An American Airlines pilot also tells air traffic control that time that they also encountered the said flying object.
“Yeah, something just passed right over us. I couldn’t make out if it was a balloon or whatnot but it was just really beaming light or had a big reflection and several thousand feet above us going the opposite direction.”
The New York Times reported that between 2014 and 2015, US navy pilots encountered numerous UFOs “traveling at hypersonic speeds” usually up to 30,000 feet in the air.
Most airlines are limited to fly 45,000 feet or less.
