Mass Email Condemns Student For Researching ‘Racist’ Candace Owens For Black History Month

In an email sent to the entire school, a Virginia high school student was targeted for using “racist” Candace Owens as a “Black Trailblazer” for a Black History Month club assignment.

Julia Saville, a junior at St. Margaret’s High School, was an officer for her school’s Turning Point USA chapter. She was also a member of the school’s Black Student Union to widen her knowledge of cultural issues, specifically the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I know that they have a different perspective on things,” Saville reportedly told The Daily Wire. “I just wanted to get their perspective and [understand] their experiences on campus.”

The Black Student Union told its members to present on “Black trailblazers” that have contributed to the Black community for Black History Month. For her presentation, Saville picked Candace Owens.

Saville was scheduled to present on Feb. 17. However, she awoke to an email from a classmate condemning her for choosing Owens as a “Black trailblazer.” The email was sent to the entire school.

The rant in the email read, “I’d like to address some falsified information here… Candace Owens is not someone we should be recognizing today especially during Black History Month when she has done absolutely nothing for the black community … [Owens] was called a racist because she was.”

The email continued, “Candace Owens openly tried to degrade the struggles of the black community by telling the general public that America is not a racist country and that everyone who believes that it is is trying to divide America.”

The student who sent the email tried to shame Saville by calling her “disrespectful” for choosing to promote Owens.

“I feel as though not only was it disrespectful that you added her to the list of trailblazers, it’s offensive that you sat down, thought about it, researched her, and thought it was okay to do this.”

The student who sent the rant email referenced a tweet as a “receipt” of Owens’ alleged racism.

The tweet read, “Just a quick tweet to remind all of you leftists that I have zero shame about having supported [Donald Trump] for the last four years and I stand unapologetically with every patriot in this country. Your smears have and will continue to inspire me. I will never be silenced.”

Saville criticized how this issue was sent in an email blast to the entire school. She believed it should have been resolved internally through the club.

The project required a minimum of four Black Americans to present on. Saville was not attacked for supporting Dr. Ben Carson, Supreme Court Justice Thomas, and Harriet Tubman. The attack was apparently prompted by including Candace Owens.

An excerpt from Saville’s project reads, “When Candace was a senior in high school she received three racist death threats that impacted her life forever. She says she overcame this through prayer and finding God.”

“Nothing is being done at all to correct the situation,” Saville’s father said.

Saville has since chosen to leave the school, saying that the incident was “the icing on the cake.”
