Rancher Says Biden Halting Border Wall Construction To Hurt Trump ‘Legacy’ — Only ‘Hurting’ Public
A rancher in New Mexico has slammed Democratic President Joe Biden’s decision to stop the construction of the security wall along the US and Mexico border, saying it is nothing but a political stunt that would end up hurting the American public.
During a segment in Fox News’ Sean Hannity show, a fourth-generation rancher in New Mexico, grew emotional as he spoke of his fear that Biden’s latest immigration policies will lead to a migrant crisis and impact his livelihood after the border wall construction was ordered shut.
The rancher said he was even “really excited that this was happening” when the administration told him they will be building part of the border wall through his property — the construction started last April.
“That’s been Trump’s motto, through his campaign and through his administration, they were going to build a wall [to stop illegals from coming]. And [the construction] started in April of last year. And and we were you know, we were really excited that this was happening,” the rancher said.
“As soon as President Biden took office, he pulled the plug on this project and it came to an immediate halt,” he added.
“The wall works. This is all a politically driven agenda and this is and this is what’s frustrating to me is the Biden administration.”
“They’re stopping the wall, in my opinion, to try to hurt Trump’s legacy of securing the border. When in reality all it is doing is hurting the American people.”
Biden issued an executive order just last week ordering a halt in the construction of the security wall along the US-Mexico border — the project launched by former President Donald Trump’s administration to help stem the influx of illegal immigration to the US.
But Biden said building a wall was “not a serious policy solution” and is just a “waste of money” despite warnings from immigration experts that a softer immigration policy could lead to a surge in the number of people seeking to enter the US following four years of hardline border and immigration policies under former President Trump.
Former Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf had said as a result of Biden’s friendlier tone to illegal immigrants apprehensions at the border has returned to “crisis level” for authorities. The former DHS secretary said 1,000 border apprehensions per day represented a “crisis level” for authorities and the current rate is at 3,000 to 3,500 illegal border-crossers per day.
“Building a massive wall that spans the entire southern border is not a serious policy solution. It is a waste of money that diverts attention from genuine threats to our homeland security,” the Democratic president said in an Executive Order.
The rancher interviewed by Fox News also said Americans residing along the border were all supportive of former President Trump’s vision to build a border wall along the southern border with Mexico.
“Everybody in our area is in favor of this wall because they’ve seen where it is worked, and that it does work,” the rancher said.
“The wall works.”
