WATCH: Trump Sends Video To Babbitt Family On Special Occasion, Calls On DOJ To Investigate (VIDEO)

Former President Donald Trump sent a personal letter to the family of Ashli Babbitt in honor of her birthday. The Air Force veteran would have been 36 this weekend if she had not been shot and killed during a disturbance on Capitol Hill on January 6.

Babbitt was honored in a ceremony aired live by reporter Ford Fischer, who said the event featured a range of remarks and films decrying Babbitt’s premature murder at the hands of a police officer assigned to the United States Capitol Police Department. The president’s personal statement mirrored the tone of the day, praising Babbitt as a “hero” who deserved to be treated fairly and not unjustly as she was.

“To Ashli’s family and friends, please know that her memory will live on in our hearts for all time,” Trump said. “Ashli served our country in the United States Air Force for 14 years, where she was a security forces airman and eventually went on to achieve the rank of senior airman. She defended our nation overseas including in Iraq to fight in the war on terror.”

In a letter to Ashli Babbitt’s family, President Donald Trump said that there was “no reason” for her death on that tragic day, and he pledged his “unwavering support” for the family’s efforts to get justice.

“We must all demand justice for Ashli and her family. So on this solemn occasion, as we celebrate her life, we renew our call for a fair and nonpartisan investigation into the death of Ashli Babbitt. I offer my unwavering support to Ashli’s family and call on the Department of Justice to reopen its investigation into her death on Jan. 6.”

Following Babbitt’s death, Trump allegedly talked with her mother, expressing regret for what had occurred and expressing sorrow for her loss. “If that happened to the ‘other side,’ there would be riots all over America and yet, there are far more people represented by Ashli, who truly loved America, than there are on the other side. The Radical Left haters cannot be allowed to get away with this. There must be justice!,” Trump stated according to reports
